Autonomous Status for CRDA
AP Government is going to grant autonomous status to the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) which is the supreme authority in the matters related to proposed new capital. From now onwards, CRDA will act independently when it comes to development of AP Capital.
State Government took this call upon receiving complaints that frequent changes in Municipal Administration is adversely affecting the functioning of CRDA. A Government Order (GO) will be issued soon granting autonomous status to CRDA and subsequently a Principal Secretary will be appointed as its head.
Currently, IAS Officer N Srikanth is acting as the Commissioner of the CRDA. He is likely to continue working for CRDA at least till the completion of first phase of AP Capital but the State Government is yet to decide on his new designation.
AP Capital works begin from October 22nd, 2015. Prime Minister of India, Singapore and Japan will be invited for the ceremony.
