Cops plan survey to tame crooks

In a bid to control criminals and crime rate under the Hyderabad City Commissionerate limits, the police propose to conduct a two-day survey to collect details of criminals living in the city.

According to sources, police officers have identified as many as 11,000 criminals who are active in the past five years in property offences. The identified persons were all earlier convicted and released in various cases in recent times.

Other offenders are also living in city, but most of them are inactive or involved in law and order offences, said an officer at city police commissionerate. This survey would help the police to keep a continuous tab on offenders to detect and solve the cases.

In order to make the survey successful on Wednesday and Thursday, City Police conducted a set-conference with police officers from inspector to IG ranks and instructed them to participate in the survey and ensure thorough and swift process.

The commissioner has informed that the officers of respective police stations would gather as many details as of the offenders available and also verify them before completing the survey process. He asked the officers to ensure quality results.

After completion of the survey, the residences of offenders will be mapped on the internet to keep a daily tab on their movements. As a daily routine, the blue colts and patrolling staff of each area would check the presence of offenders and enter their status online.

The mobile number, latest photographs, details of Aadhar card, ration card, voter id and other identification cards issued by both state and union governments would be collected. The details of relatives, friends, facilitators and other close associates of the offenders would also be gathered and all the information would be stored with the City Crime Records Bureau (CCRB) for further use, the police officer said.

The officer said that more numbers of property offenders were identified in Goshamahal, Malakpet, Falaknuma, Santhoshangar, Chilakalguda and Sultan Bazar police station divisions. All the police personnel ranking from Home Guards to the City Commissioner would take part in the survey and gather details of the criminals to ensure the safety of the public.
