Green panel rejects AP plea
AP government has appealed to the National Green Tribunal to extend time to appear before it against the scheduled hearing for August 28 in regard to the petition filed by one P. Srimananarayana.
It may be noted that the government appeared before the tribunal on July 27 and has been asked to file a detailed reply in correspondence to the petition filed by Mr Srimannarayana who raised objections over capital construction in the most fertile lands of Guntur district.
The tribunal listed the case for hearing on August 28, that is, Friday.
However, according to the petitioner, AP government’s counsel has appealed to the court for postponement of the hearing to Tuesday. He said the tribunal however did not accept the appeal of the government.
The government failed to keep its word made before the tribunal and issued land acquisition notification for five villages in the capital despite submitting to the tribunal that no such activities would be taken up until August 28, Mr Srimannarayana said.
