Ink Attack on CM Kejriwal !!

A war of words ensued between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a woman, in a bid to heckle Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, attempted to throw ink at him during the thanks-giving ceremony in Chhatrashal stadium.

The event was organised following the ‘successful’ completion of the first round of Delhi government’s odd-even scheme.

Bhavna Arora claimed herself to be a member of the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Sena and accused Kejriwal to be involved in what she termed as a ‘CNG scam’.

The Aam Aadmi Sena is a splinter group formed by former AAP members who left party due to the ‘dictatorial ways’ of Kejriwal.

The woman approached the stage from where Kejriwal was delivering his speech. She then flung some papers, a CD and then threw ink at Kejriwal. It fell short of him.

“I have proof of him (Kejriwal) being involved in CNG scam,” she said while trying to talk to the media, as police whisked her away. Kejriwal appealed to “let the woman go”.

He also asked volunteers to accept the papers brought by the woman. He then continued his speech and thanked the people of Delhi for making the odd-even scheme a success.

The woman was later taken to the Model Town police station, where she claimed she took the action after her numerous attempts to meet Kejriwal failed.

She claimed that the Delhi government was responsible for issuing CNG stickers illegally to persons who floated the odd-even scheme. This showed corruption on part of the Delhi government, she said.

The incident sparked a new round of blame game between Delhi police, Delhi government and the BJP, with the AAP calling it a security breach and accusing the Delhi police of not providing adequate security to Kejriwal and claiming the incident as a ‘BJP conspiracy.’

“This incident is dangerous in many ways. The whole cabinet was sitting there and a women throws ink. It could have been acid or bomb. How did she manage to reach there? Delhi police claims to be on high alert. Where is that alert? There were no security arrangements at the rally,” said deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

In a statement, the BJP hit back at AAP, claiming that it could have been conspired by the AAP itself, in order to gain political mileage and public sympathy. Later in the evening, the Delhi police also issued a statement reading, “Certain allegations have been levelled against the Delhi police by some functionaries of AAP and even by Hon’ble Deputy CM of Delhi. These are misconceived and unfounded. Appropriate law and order arrangements were made for Chhatrasal stadium function by the Delhi police.

“In fact enhanced police deployment was made for law and order maintenance in view of the the large crowd expected to attend the function,”it said.
