Swine flu scare in Hyd
A swine flu case has been registered in Hyderabad. According to reports, the victim hails from Khammam district. Four others admitted with suspected swine flu symptoms were also undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital
The deadly H1N1 influenza virus (swine flu) usually spreads during winter season. Low temperatures and showers are favourable conditions for the spread of the diseases. This year 2,175 swine flu cases were registered and 79 patients died due to the disease.
Gandhi Hospital is nodal centre for the treatment of swine flu. A separate ward with sophisticated equipment was set up for providing treatment to swine flu patients.
Health officials are taking all necessary measures to control spread of the disease. Doctors advised high risk patients (children, pregnant women and elderly persons) to stay away from processions and other social gatherings as the virus would easily spread from one person through, coughing, sneezing and talking with people infected with the disease.
