Qasim was killed by security forces in an ambush in Kulgam district.
Qasim had killed a police officer early this month in Bandipora district and managed to escape when he was being chased. The Jammu and Kashmir police had announced a bounty on Qasim's head.
The National Investigation Agency had also announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information on Qasim.
In August, India's security forces with the help of a local village defence committee, caught a young terrorist alive after a brief gunbattle in Udhampur. One of his accomplices had already been killed by the security forces earlier.
This came after terrorists ambushed a BSF convoy, killing at least two personnel and injuring eight others. The captured terrorist later revealed the operational details and Pakistan's hand in the terror attack.
