Former YSR Congress party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy, who resigned from the party as well as his Rajya Sabha membership in January this year, told the Special Investigation Team of Andhra Pradesh police that it was Raj Kasireddy who was aware of the money dealings in the alleged liquor scam that happened during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government. Speaking to media persons after the interrogation by the SIT authorities, Sai Reddy feigned ignorance about the money trail in the liquor business. “I told them I have no role the liquor business and was not aware of payment of any kickbacks in the deal,” he said. Sai Reddy, however, openly declared that it was Raj Kasireddy who had handled all monetary transactions in the liquor business. “I told them I don’t know who were the beneficiaries of money collected by Raj Kasireddy. Only he will be able to tell who the Big Boss to whom the money has gone,” he said. He said Raj Kasireddy, along with ex-MD of AP Beverages Corporation Ltd D Vasudeva Reddy, MP Mithun Reddy and others attended the meetings held at his (Sai Reddy’s) residences in Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The former MP described Raj Kasireddy as a criminal and cunning person. “He was introduced to me by party members themselves. He cheated the government and the public, reportedly created new liquor brands using three companies and sold them,” he said. About Mithun Reddy’s role in the whole issue, Sai Reddy said only Raj Kasireddy would be able to reveal what role the YSRCP MP had played in the liquor deal. “I do not know who is backing Raj Kasireddy,” he said. He said he had recommended two companies – Decart and Adan – to the government for supply of liquor. “I helped secure a Rs 100 crore loan from Aurobindo with 12% interest to these companies – Rs 60 crore to one company and Rs 40 crore to another – and ensured repayments were made accordingly,” he said. He said he was branded a backstabber by Jagan. “From being in the second position, I was pushed to the 2000th position. I endured many humiliations within the YSRCP,” he said.
